What Are The Five Steps?

The Five Steps refer to my Book, The Five Steps To Sainthood, a work of fiction with many real-life attitudes. It's the story of a little boy who wants to be a saint, and how that goal turns into a life-long quest, taking him from Little Italy in Toronto to the heart of the Vatican, where he changes the face of religion.

Along the way he meets people who have stories about saints, or what it takes to be a saint. These are not the traditional tales of miracuolus healing powers or religious visions.

No, what he hears about is how the everyday person has done something, or given up something that warrants the title of "Saint".

In the book, the protaginist has come up with five steps he feels makes a saint. Here are the first four:

Selflessness
Sacrifice
Pain
Acceptance

What do you think the fifth should be? In these pages, you, the reader, become the writer.

I want to hear about what you think a step towards sainthood invloves.

Don't feel constrained by what you have already read or heard regarding saints. Do not limit yourself to simply religious themes or stories. Saints are everywhere. They are you and me.

What you need to do first is find a theme, such as "Sacrifice." Then create the story.

This story may be real or fictional, but remember, though, that the most important part is the theme, because that is what you are putting forward as a step towards sainthood.

I assure you, this is not a religious site, even though saints, as we know them today, fall under a particular religious banner. My goal is to show that anyone can become a saint. Maybe not as in a stained-glass or sculpture, but where it matters most, in the lives of  those touched by the saint.

The book is finished and copyrighted. I already have my fifth step, so don't be concerned about your story being used anywhere but on this site. Remember, though, many people will be reading this.

So, there you go. That is the assignment. To help you along, I will post my own thoughts on the Five Steps, as I have put forward in my book.

Thank you for joining in. This is an important exercise. We live our lives often in a vacuum, not seeing who or what is around us. With luck, this will help open our eyes to the understanding that we all have potential in us.

We are all just that step away from sainthood.

Good luck to you. And as you seek out the saints around you, I hope you discover the one inside.
